Meet the Second Galaxy Development Team

Virtual Universe is the open source project arm of the Second Galaxy Development Team. The development team is responsible for the development of Virtual Universe and their proprietary grid architecture known as GalaxyGrid. The GalaxyGrid virtual world grid architecture powers Second Galaxy and soon to power Galaxy Futures!.

The Second Galaxy Development Team consists of 10 Core Developers, 4 Assistant Core Developers, and 10 members of administrative staff. To ensure better efficiency and productivity the development team is split up into work groups which focus on specific areas. These work groups are:

• Grid Architecture Development Work Group - Focuses on development of the grid architecture.
• Viewer Development Work Group - Focuses on Viewer Development
• Administrative Support Services Work Group - Focuses on the day to day administration of the development team and customer support.

Only core developers of the Second Galaxy Development Team are members of the development team's governing body and have a vote regarding business before the development team.

The development team also elects one member from our team to be our representative to each of our upstream providers. Additionally each upstream provider has a representative that represents the upstream provider before the Second Galaxy Development Team.
