Mentors
women++ wants to ensure that deploy(impact)'s participants have enough resources/ support that allows them to learn and develop their skills in tech further. Mentors include volunteers coming from the different sponsoring companies as well as the women++ community.
Mentors help participants with their projects on a weekly basis, bringing expertise particularly relevant to the process of an agile tech development program within their own areas of expertise. These competencies include the following roles assigned to participants, but needn't be limited to:
Software development: front-end dev (main focus for the projects, mobile dev, back-end dev (when required), ML (depending on the solution’s functionalities).
Tech project management: agile methodology, project lead/ tech projects experience, business, sales.
UI/UX design
Minimum of 1hr/week for 6 weeks from October 8 (Opening ceremony) till November 19 (Project presentations & Award ceremony)
The mentoring can take place in the following forms:
-
Throughout the 6-week sprints, there will be a biweekly Product Owner Feedback Session with each individual team and their product owner (InZone or Kona Connect). Participants’ questions from each of these sessions will be documented and made available for mentors to review in their own dedicated weekly time slots.
-
Ad hoc follow-ups with a specific project team, through the centralized communication platform (Agorize’s chat) during your dedicated time slots.
-
A participant might need mentoring which matches the skills of a mentor, it could be interesting to pair them for as long as required (including the full duration of the program), to see their development. Support would be given during your mentor’s dedicated time slots, on a weekly basis.
Participants and mentors will have access to a dedicated slack space during deploy(impact), as the main communication channel.
When participants have any questions about a specific topic, they can submit them through the relevant channel. Experienced mentors on the topic will be added to the channel and will be able to follow up on a rolling basis.
- 1 channel per team,
- 2 collective channels per project,
- "ask" channels: collective for all teams and mentors
These sessions are scheduled individually between you and a team to cover a predefined topic. This session can be of 30 min to 1 hr, depending on what's agreed with the team.
