i log in
then a page with a long url is briefly displayed (3 s). The browser (firefox) is rapidly redirected to a new page
with url https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/wrongplace. A text is displayed

Hi @promeneur,
This is a known issue and is documented on the onedrive client github page . There are solutions there as well.

With that said, I will see if I can find a better way of intercepting the login response. I still have the code for it, which handles the entire login in the OneDriveGUI without using external browser, but it has been relatively buggy on some Linux distros due to various missing dependencies. I will give it another shot.

We have no time to write click and copy the url.

I found a fast way to copy the url :

click on the star and register the new mark.
open the mark editor then copy the url ans paste it in the onedrive gui

Please raise a bug report with Microsoft - it is their change that caused this issue for you - not OneDriveGUI nor the underlying client.

If you are using a Business Account, I strongly recommend switching to using Device Authentication.

Unfortunately, this cannot be made the default as Device Authentication is not supported for Personal Accounts.

Workaround for external login via browser

For now, the easiest workaround is to open the Developer Menu in your browser by pressing F12 and switching to Network tab before filling in your credentials. Then ensure to enable Persist Logs.

Example from Firefox:

You can then simply copy the previous response URL:

Also ensure you are using OneDrive client v2.5.10 or newer, as older versions will not accept the new format of response URLs.

Login directly inside of OneDrive GUI

Alternatively, you you can enable QWebEngine for login under the GUI settings. This will allow you to enter your credential directtly inside of OneDriveGUI. But... this feature does not work for the AppImage version! I will see if that can be fixed at some point later.

QWebEngine does not work for me (just a white window is opened).
The workaround by quickly registering in the favorites is working, but this is not practical.
And it would be nice to have a configuration option to choose the web browser to launch instead of thye default one. Because here, for "security reasons", the only browser authorized to connect to a Microsoft account is Edge (Linux version). So we have to make it the default one to connect Onedrive, then switch back to the browser we want (Firefox, for me).

Thanks for the hint with extracting the URL via web dev tools, that worked for me!

AND: I had to update from onedrive 2.5.5 to 2.5.10!

Then I was able to sync!

I think built-in methods should be default in the future: I have to reset my password because of MS's security politics after once used this in catching timings...

Just quickly copy the link before being redirected xD
Click on the link and the browser automatically select it, then CTRL + C :)
And even if you are redirected, the link you are editing does not disappear (for Firefox thought)

In Firefox it's probably easiest to open the History sidebar (Ctrl+H), right-click one of the two login.microsoftonline.com page entries there (not the one that goes to /common/workplace) and select Copy from the popup menu.

This issue is now resolved in the 'onedrive' client itself.
