Nobody asked me to go.
I went anyway — to conferences in cities I'd never been to, to rooms full of people who hadn't heard of what I was building, with a budget that made no sense for what I was trying to do.
I was there because my startup needed me to be there. Not a marketing team. Not a spokesperson. Me.
Some of it worked. A lot of it didn't. All of it taught me something.
This is what I wish had existed before I booked the flight.
A place for founders who've been somewhere, figured something out, and want the next founder to have a slightly better shot.
A living archive of hard-won knowledge, founder to founder. We call them dispatches.
A dispatch is a firsthand account from a founder who's been somewhere. Not a travel blog post. Not a success story. A specific situation — getting from the airport without paying $60 for a taxi you can't afford to not care about, finding accommodation last minute, navigating an event alone — written for the next founder about to face the same thing. Practical, honest, earned.
