# Nomination for Hiero TSC Maintainer seat

## Candidate

Richard Bair — @rbair23
VP Engineering, Hashgraph

## Qualifications

Richard has served on the Hiero TSC since the project was founded, and was instrumental in working with Hedera to contribute the Hedera source code to the LFDT as Hiero, including authoring the charter and establishing the structure and form for the TSC. He leads development for the Hedera network at Hashgraph.

His contributions include designing and implementing the virtual merkle implementation allowing scalability into the billions of entities in state, architectural design for the consensus layer of the consensus node, design and implementation of core code in the consensus node, and implementation of gRPC in PBJ. He designs and/or reviews key architectural designs across the entirety of the Hiero project.

## Statement

The impact of the Hiero project will only increase over time as more systems and projects come to depend on it, which raises the stakes for the technical decisions the TSC makes today. I will continue to contribute technically by striving for sound architecture, disciplined release practices, and technical decisions that hold up under real economic and security stakes. I am also a firm proponent of open development, and I believe the TSC's reasoning and decisions should stay visible and open to challenge rather than settled behind closed doors.
