Music Bitrate Scanner

This script traverses a specified directory (and its subdirectories), prints its content in a tree-like format, and for media files, displays their audio bitrate. The entire output is written to 'output.txt'.

Why?

I collected a lot of music files over the years. Bitrates were usually all over the place.

One day, I wanted to update all my files to the same, high quality level. I needed to know which files to update and which where already good enough. Therefore, I wrote this script!

The outputs.txt is easy to search and can be used as a checklist!

Prerequisites

Make sure you have the following dependencies installed:

• ffmpeg

If a dependency is missing, the script will tell you!

Usage

Clone this repo

git clone

cd music-bitrate-scanner

Make the script executable

chmod +x music_bitrate_scanner.sh

Run the script

./music_bitrate_scanner.sh <PATH_TO_DIRECTORY_YOU_WANT_TO_SCAN>
