Completed: Improve Chapter 2 with Deeper Research

Successfully expanded Chapter 2 "Part-time Jobs and Side Projects" from 3 lines to 554 lines of comprehensive, well-researched content following the established writing style and guidelines.

✅ All Tasks Completed:

  • Research real-world examples of how part-time jobs and side projects helped early-career engineers in Indonesia
  • Investigate current market conditions and opportunities for part-time work in Indonesian tech companies
  • Explore successful side project strategies that led to job offers or skill development
  • Gather insights on balancing part-time work with studies/main job
  • Study what makes side projects stand out (GitHub portfolio quality, practical problems solved)
  • Research networking opportunities through freelance platforms popular in Indonesia
  • Write compelling introduction with hook (story about Rizki's experience)
  • Explain why part-time jobs matter for career development
  • Detail how to find and evaluate part-time opportunities (startups, SMEs, freelance platforms, tech companies)
  • Cover side project strategies (what to build, how to showcase)
  • Address common pitfalls and mistakes (undervaluing work, taking every opportunity, etc.)
  • Provide actionable steps and key takeaways (weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly plans)
  • Update chapter status in README.md to "✅ Complete"
  • Build and verify the book compiles correctly (554 lines, epub generated successfully)
  • Address code review feedback (fixed currency symbol from ₹ to Rp)
  • Resolve merge conflict with master branch (merged expanded Chapter 1, both chapters now complete)

Content Highlights:

Structure (following AGENTS.md template):

  1. ✅ Hook - Personal story about Rizki facing the experience paradox
  2. ✅ Context - Indonesian tech market reality and what employers actually want
  3. ✅ Core Content - Comprehensive coverage of:
    • Finding part-time opportunities (startups, SMEs, freelance platforms)
    • Making part-time work count (with example: Devi's journey)
    • Side project strategies (with example: Budi's breakthrough)
    • Common mistakes to avoid
    • Balancing time management
    • Showcasing work effectively
  4. ✅ Common Pitfalls - 5 major pitfalls with explanations
  5. ✅ Action Steps - Concrete plans for this week, month, quarter, and year
  6. ✅ Key Takeaways - 8 core lessons with closing story

Quality Metrics:

  • 554 lines (comparable to other complete chapters: 362-649 lines)
  • Conversational, engaging tone matching established style
  • Specific, actionable advice (not generic)
  • Indonesian context throughout (Gojek, Tokopedia, Jakarta, local platforms, Rp currency)
  • Real examples and concrete scenarios (Devi, Budi, Rizki)
  • Story-driven with clear narrative arc
  • Successfully builds to epub file with both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 expanded
  • Code review feedback addressed
  • Merge conflict resolved: Both Chapter 1 (649 lines) and Chapter 2 (554 lines) are now marked complete

The chapter now provides comprehensive guidance for Indonesian early-career engineers on building experience through alternative paths when internships aren't available.

📋 I wasn't able to determine which GitHub repository to work in.

I think it's one of these, but can you tell me which one is right?

@copilot fix conflict

Conflict resolved in commit 7324a71. Merged the master branch (which includes the expanded Chapter 1) into this branch. Both Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 are now marked as complete in README.md. The book builds successfully with both expanded chapters.
