Introduction

The goal of the gdl-guideline-models project is to create a library of common and reusable clinical guidelines in the form of openEHR archetypes and guideline definition language (GDL) guidelines.

Our main focus is on creating GDL guidelines by using archetypes to express clinical rules in a machine-readable format. If the desired archetypes are available from public Clinical Knowledge Manager (CKM) repositories (listed below) - we tend to use them - otherwise, we also create fresh archetypes from the ground up.

The development team behind the common-clinical-models project includes the creators of the original GDL design specification and open source implementation work, published in 2013.

Public archetype repositories (CKMs):

  1. The global openEHR CKM: http://www.openehr.org/ckm/
  2. The Nasjonal IKT CKM (Norway): http://arketyper.no/ckm/
  3. The Apperta Foundation CKM (UK): http://clinicalmodels.org.uk/ckm/
