Code commit plan for ufs s2s model

To align with the Coupled System Benchmark plan, corresponding code commits are scheduled for model infrastructure development and component updates for May, 2020 - Sept, 2020. Additional code updates may come at any time, the schedule are subject to change according to the code readiness. The items listed under each month are the targeted commits in no particular order.

20200515:

  • transition to CCPP
  • Ocean-wave coupling
  • transition to rt.sh
  • Orion porting
  • wcoss phase2 porting

Benchmark 4 tags: s2s_prototype4.0 and s2s_prototype4.0_wcoss (created on 5/18/2020)

20200615:

  • fractional grid in CCPP
  • transition to CMEPS
  • CMEPS based regression test is set up

20200715:

  • CMEPS evaluation
  • FMS update to 2019.01.03
  • GFSv16 physics updates

20200815:

  • Disable NEMS RT
  • Evaluation of CICE6 vs CICE5
  • add fractional grid code changes

20200915:

  • Transition to CICE6, freezing temperature is now salinity dependent (corresponding change is made in cice5 for CICE5/CICE6 comparison)
  • Bring GFSv16 computation performance update to s2s, and update libs to netcdf 4.7.4 and ESMF810bs27
  • fixing the atm-wav coupling issues on coast line and temperature change on ice points
