### Relying Party Intermediaries in the Trust Ecosystem

RPIs introduce an additional trust relationship layer:

**Direct Trust Relationships:**
Comment thread
Saramandus marked this conversation as resolved.
- RP → RPI (contractual service relationship)
- RPI → QTSP/EAASP (trust list verification)
- Wallet → Registration Authority or Registrar (RP-RPI relationship verification)

**Indirect Trust Relationships:**
- Wallet → RP (via RPI validation and RP registration)
- RP → Issuer (via RPI trust status checking)

**Critical Trust Requirements:**
- RPIs must not store attribute data (Article 5b(10))
- RPIs should meet TSP-equivalent security requirements
- Validation performed by RPI must be reliably communicated to RP
- Wallet holders must be able to verify both RPI and RP identities
