Piece: The Thing The Child Carries

The Child's Room. It lives here because The One Who Doesn't Know Yet lives here. It has no other address in this world.

Load Bearing

Without it the world ends with this generation. Remove it and the second loop does not run - the world replicates once and stops.

Apparent

Unnamed. Unfiled. A feeling without a word. The weather in the house that The One Who Doesn't Know Yet reads before thought - the way you know a floorboard is loose.

Yearbook

Present before the child has language for it. Carried out of The Child's Room every morning. Carried back in every evening. Passes through The Threshold in both directions without ever being set down. Carried out of this world into the next. In the next generation it surfaces as The Wound - older than the drinking, already there when the drinking starts. They are the same piece. The name arrives later. The child does not know this yet.
