3. Operation Modes

Ghost Mode isn't just a simple domain blocker; it's smart enough to understand specific areas of a website. We call this Path-Specific Matching.

How It Works

Instead of just looking at the main website (like example.com), Ghost Mode checks if the URL you are visiting starts with the rule you saved in your list.

This means you can tell the extension to ignore the main homepage, but instantly wipe your history the moment you enter a specific section or sub-folder of that site.

Real-World Examples

Example 1: Reading Comics / Manga

Let's say you want to browse the homepage of MangaPlus (https://mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/updates) to check for updates, and you want to keep that in your history. However, you want to hide the actual chapters you read.

  • What to add: mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer (subdomain of MangaPlus for chapter reading while the title subdomain using mangaplus.shuiesha.co.jp/title/)
  • Result:
    • Visiting mangaplus.shuiesha.co.jp/title/12345 ➡️ Saved in history.
    • Visiting mangaplus.shueisha.co.jp/viewer/12345 ➡️ Wiped instantly!

Example 2: YouTube Videos

You might want to keep your YouTube homepage and channel visits in your history, but hide the specific videos you watch to prevent them from messing up your browser address bar's algorithm recommendations.

  • What to add: youtube.com/watch
  • Result:
    • Visiting youtube.com/@channelname ➡️ Saved in history.
    • Visiting youtube.com/watch?v=video_id ➡️ Wiped instantly!

Formatting Tips

  • You do not need to type http://, https://, or www.. The extension automatically cleans up your input to make it neat.
  • Do not put a trailing slash / at the very end.
  • Just type the core domain and the specific path you want to target (e.g., reddit.com/r/privacy).
