Implementation Plan

Milestone 1: Core Platform & Mapping (MVP)

User Management & Access

  • Account registration, secure authentication, and user profile creation.
  • Guest mode implementation allowing unregistered users to browse the map and view existing obstacles, restricted from submitting or validating reports.

Interactive Map & Routing Engine

  • Geospatial map integration with pan, zoom, and location search capabilities using real-world campus data.
  • Implementation of a core accessibility routing algorithm that generates a single, default visual path between selected origin and destination points.
  • Dynamic route calculation that actively evaluates and avoids areas with active obstacle reports to provide a universally accessible baseline path.

Obstacle Reporting System

  • Map-based reporting interface allowing registered users to drop a pin at their current location to report an issue.
  • Mandatory photographic evidence upload, text description, and categorization (e.g., specific obstacle type) for all new reports.
  • Visualization of active obstacle markers on the map, allowing users to click and view detailed descriptions and photos.

Milestone 2: Personalization, Verification & Advanced Features (Final Deliverable)

Advanced Routing & Indoor Mapping

  • Configuration of personal mobility preferences (e.g., wheelchair use, avoiding stairs) to generate customized routes tailored to individual physical needs.
  • Expansion of the mapping and reporting system to support indoor environments, distinguishing them from outdoor routes and displaying indoor obstacles at appropriate zoom levels.

Community Validation & Trust System

  • Implementation of a community feedback loop allowing registered users to upvote (confirm) or flag existing unverified reports.
  • Automated lifecycle management for reports, changing statuses based on community interactions (e.g., transitioning to "Confirmed" or fading out inactive/stale reports).
  • User reliability tracking and gamification, awarding specific badges to consistently accurate contributors and granting their validations higher weight in the system.

Issue Resolution Workflow

  • Dedicated dashboard for infrastructure authorities (e.g., municipalities) to manage, filter, and review active issues.
  • Capability for authorities to mark obstacles as "Resolved" by uploading post-repair photographic evidence and official notes.
  • Community confirmation mechanism to officially close and archive resolved issues based on feedback from users navigating the repaired route.

System Moderation & Administration

  • Administrator interface to monitor a queue of reports flagged as fake or malicious by the community.
  • Automated spam detection logic to identify user accounts submitting high volumes of unverified reports in a short timeframe.
  • Account management tools for administrators to permanently delete malicious data and suspend or ban abusive user accounts.
  • Automated notification system to alert contributors when their reported issues change status.
