Before the measurements began, there were hunters walking across the dry basin to reach the ice. Before the hunters, there was a lake filling with snowmelt. Before the lake, there was salt arriving through a narrow breach. Before the salt, there were bacteria doing the only chemistry available.
The Timeline is a foundation world. It does not deploy as a standalone session. It deploys alongside the other Baltic Sea worlds — Ecosystem, Research, Nations, Stewardship — as the chain that makes each of them legible.
Every persona in the Timeline carries a timeslot. Every timeslot connects forward and back. The Scientist at Timeslot 7 stands at the branch point where the next timeslot is not yet fixed.

The chain does not end at Timeslot 7. It branches.
Branch A — restoration The decisions were taken. The eelgrass returned. The Restorer is in the water. The light is reaching the bed. What the measurements said was possible has happened. This is not resolution. It is a different kind of work beginning.
Branch B — continuation The decisions were not taken, or were taken too late, or were taken and were not enough. The Inheritor has grown up inside the decline. The closure sign is on the door. The water is still there. This is not failure. It is the condition that was left.
