Announcements all
  • 1610 ARK organizations
  • ss: I translated the tutorial slides, and added some slides about how to register for a NAAN

Any news items we should blog about? Any calls for papers, submission deadlines,
upcoming meetings we should note? See Calendar of Events (ARKA-Calendar).
all
  • ARK tutorial given at IIIF in Leeds June 5 and Europeana Pro June 12 in Warsaw
  • upcoming NAAN form changes will give us better demographics
  • dw: it would be good for us to review the new form and to be able to comment on it
  • jk: that would be welcome
Item Owner
Finding blog post authors John
  • How to recruit new authors and posts? One tool: blog post story template
  • Please think about writing a post yourself or asking your colleagues -- 2 paragraphs and picture works well

Planning ARKA Community Call, Nov 14 all
  • what audience should we target?
  • what topics should we cover?
  • ss: people need to feel more included in the governance; eg, although PKP does not have open governance, people feel included because they have open community calls; maybe ARKA could do something similar
  • jk: maybe our Outreach WG could focus on (or become) an Open Community group andhost regular open meetings?
  • dw: w3c has Interest groups (https://www.w3.org/groups/), so does RDA; so Outreach could be an Interest Group
  • jp: we can learn from how PKP does things

Documentation change: classic to modern ARKs all
  • please review ARK documentation changing to show modern ARKs (ark:) by default instead of classic ARKs (ark:/)
  • dw: is there a procedure for commonly used platforms on a per-platform basis? eg, OJS, Apache, WordPress, Nginx, Omeka
  • ss: especially with OJS, this would be important
  • jk: would be great if you (ss) were interested to meet with me and the developer of the plugin?
  • dw: maybe we could have a blank page for each platform with an invitation to contribute, and build out the page with user input
  • ss: pkp forum has key role in community with OJS
  • dw: question to consider: is there a plan for n2t
  • jk: n2t handles both forms, and normalizes to classic; it is important, however, for local resolvers also to handle both forms

Old action items

PKP has three clear, distinct products that they steward: OJS (for journals), OMP (for books), OPS (for preprints). That makes their scope a bit different than the ARK Alliance’s (current) scope, no?
